Technical Trainee
Join the Gigglebug crew in our studio in Helsinki!
Gigglebug Entertainment is a leader in 2D animation, recognised for its high-quality, joyful content that captivates children and families alike. With our headquarters in the Nordics, we have established our second studio in Las Palmas, Gran Canarias in the Summer of 2024, combining a 2D animation pipeline between the two studios.
Now, we are looking for a full time Technical Trainee to join the Helsinki studio. The position is 5 days a week and for 5 to 6 months depending on the internship period. As an international team of many nationalities our working language is English.
Purpose of the role:
As our Technical Trainee, you will work closely with our Head of Technology and Technical Assistant to keep our studio running smoothly. This is a role designed for someone who loves to wear multiple hats: you will help maintain our IT infrastructure and, when things are quiet on the IT front, dive into scripting, refactoring old tools, and helping us research how AI can make our animation workflows even more efficient.
This is a growth role. We don't expect you to know everything on day one. Our infrastructure is straightforward, and you will have a supportive team to guide you as you level up your skills from school to the professional world.
Responsibilities of the role:
IT Support & Maintenance: Assist in installing and supporting software/hardware (workstations, file servers, network devices, meeting rooms).
User Management: Help manage user accounts, permissions, licenses, and basic Active Directory tasks.
Pipeline & Scripting: Maintain, update, and refactor existing studio scripts and automations, with the ultimate goal of developing new tools as you grow.
AI Exploration: Bring your fresh eyes and curiosity to help us research and test new AI tools and workflows across the studio.
Documentation & Admin: Write and update simple technical documentation, handle inventories, and keep tracking systems up to date.
Security & Backups: Support the team in ensuring data backups run correctly and security principles are followed.
Reporting to the Head of Technology.
The ideal candidate would have:
Relevant studies in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar.
Basic understanding of IT systems, networks, and troubleshooting.
Foundational programming skills (Python is highly preferred; JavaScript is a plus).
A strong interest in current AI tools and a willingness to explore how they can be integrated into a creative workflow.
Familiarity with (or curiosity about) a hybrid Windows/Mac/Linux environment.
Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
Ability to work independently on tasks while being a supportive team player.
Knowledge of 2D Animation pipelines or software is a big plus, but not required.
A genuine love for cartoons and animation!
